Position Title: Financial Controller

POSITION:
We are currently recruiting an experienced Controller on behalf of our client. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations, reporting, and internal controls across a diverse group of entities within the organization. The Controller will work closely with senior leadership to provide strategic financial oversight and ensure the groups accounting practices meet the highest standards of compliance and accuracy.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on finance leader with a strong background in multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, and team development, capable of navigating both complexity and growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Oversee accounting functions across multiple companies, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes for the group, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare internal and external financial statements and management reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor internal controls to ensure integrity of financial reporting and safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with operational managers to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- CPA designation (or equivalent) required.
- 57+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience managing accounting functions for multiple entities or within a group structure.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience liaising with the Canada Revenue Agency and understanding of GST/HST, PST, WorkSafe BC and Employer Health tax.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
