They are currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator to assist the Estimating team.
YOUR Responsibilities:
  • Gather and retain current and accurate data on costs of goods, materials, market labour and equipment rates from suppliers and sub-trades.
  • Identify most competitive rates based on cost analysis and comparison.
  • Identify conflicts with plans and submits questions to consultant.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates by calculating material quantity take-offs, equipment and labour rates for tender verification.
  • Review and evaluate proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and the content of estimate.
  • Prepare budgets on award of proposals and prepare file for handoff to the Project team.
  • Follow-up on submissions with clients and provide quantitative feedback on pricing.
  • Maintain an active data base of clients, vendors and subtrades.
  • Review estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to final quotation.
  • Prepare final estimate summaries, ensuring they address scope, pricing and comprehensiveness.
  • Assist the Senior Estimator, Estimating team and Management team with the pursuit and acquisition of new projects.
  • Review estimates with Sr. Estimator and the Management team.
YOUR Qualifications
  • Post- Secondary diploma in Mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technology field OR extensive experience in a mechanical contracting trade. Eng. or CET considered an asset or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Minimum 5 years of extensive experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS project and CAD and or Revit.
  • Proactive with a strong client focus and a desire to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, documentation, contracts, cost coding systems and work breakdown structures.
