About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this position will contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial statements and provide accounting guidance on complex technical areas. The role is hands-on and requires solid knowledge of IFRS standards, especially as they relate to leases and joint ventures.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and record journal entries for complex transactions, including lease obligations and joint venture accounting
- Analyze account variances and take appropriate corrective actions where needed
- Conduct IFRS 16 lease analysis and ensure proper application of accounting standards
- Prepare and support note disclosures for financial statements and other public filings
- Assist in the preparation of the MD&A and earnings-related communications
- Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support audit processes
- Research technical accounting issues and prepare supporting memos
- Maintain and update accounting policies in line with evolving standards
- Participate in ad hoc financial reporting and special projects
- CPA designation required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, ideally from a public accounting firm or similar corporate reporting environment
- Strong understanding of IFRS, with specific experience in IFRS 16 (Leases)
- Experience preparing or reviewing consolidated financial statements
- Familiarity with internal controls (SOX environment is an asset)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
- Effective communicator with attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment
