Sinai Health Foundation is seeking a Junior Web Developer to join our digital team. This role will be part of Governance and Advancement Services, reporting to the Director, Information Technology. They will work closely with the Digital Specialist and Front-End Web Developer to implement updates and improvements by refining website structure, enhancing user experience (UX/UI), optimizing page load speed, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, and integrating new features or functionalities as needed.

The Junior Web Developer will focus on reviewing and optimizing the CSS, HTML, and JavaScript codebase for our websites and donation pages, ensuring best practices and up-to-date web standards. They will also play a key role in maintaining secure, high-performing, and SEO-optimized digital properties for Sinai Health Foundation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review, refine, and optimize CSS, HTML, and JavaScript across all SHF websites and donation pages, ensuring compliance with web development best practices and maintaining clean, efficient, and up-to-date code

  • Ensure SSL/TLS certificates are up to date to maintain secure web environments and proactively monitor for potential security vulnerabilities

  • Test and optimize page performance for speed, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness

  • Ensure SEO optimization across websites and donation pages by applying proper metadata, schema markup, and best practices

  • Apply Social Media Optimization (SMO) strategies to enhance visibility and engagement across social media platforms

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Foundation digital properties, including: Main websites, Event microsites, Peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, Donation forms

  • Collaborate with the Digital Specialist and Front-End Web Developer to implement updates and improvements by refining website structure, enhancing UX/UI, optimizing page load speed, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, and integrating new features as needed

  • Regularly monitor Foundation websites, domains, and donation pages for errors, broken links, or performance issues, providing timely solutions as needed

  • Work alongside internal colleagues to understand AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) regulations and ensure all digital assets comply with accessibility standards, providing an inclusive experience for all users.

Position Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Web Design and Development, or a related field from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent experience may be considered

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a digital role

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (experience with frameworks like Bootstrap is a plus)

  • Understanding of SEO principles and best practices

  • Experience with SSL/TLS certificates and basic website security principles

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) is an asset

  • Familiarity of AODA and CASL compliance

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to optimize code for efficiency and performance

  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot website issues

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite in a Microsoft Windows environment is an asset

  • Experience with monday.com or similar project management tools is an asset

  • Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and set priorities effectively

This role has been evaluated with an annual salary range of $54,403 to $68,004.The hiring range is $54,403 to $58,936 (pro-rated).

Sinai Health Foundation is a hybrid workplace, located in downtown Toronto. Currently, all employees are in-office on Tuesdays for the Foundation's “anchor day”, as well as approximately 24 additional in-person corporate meetings, events or activities annually. Additional in-person requirements vary by team and job function. Our Workplace Flexibility policy is reviewed on a bi-annual basis to ensure the current state of hybrid work is meeting our organizational needs.
