THE POSITION
The Sourcing Manager is a data-driven, results-oriented, analytical, strategic, and communicative leader. Technologically advanced, they are a skilled multi-tasker and able to deliver on internal and external customer expectations. The successful candidate will lead SMG's New Product Introduction (NPI) team to systematically scale SMG's global supply chain footprint. This individual will foster a respectful, supportive, and collaborative environment for all stakeholders.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT
- Lead our international sourcing teams with the goal of scaling our procurement activities in countries such as India and Vietnam.
- Support the identification and evaluation of potential suppliers based on part specifications and commercial requirements.
- Negotiate commercial supplier agreements.
- Partner with cross functional teams to determine supplier selection criteria.
- Oversee the preparation, management, and tracking of NPIs during RFQ stage to ensure timely and accurate responses.
- Collaborate with our NPI team, including international Sourcing team members to ensure timely development and execution of awarded projects.
- Proactively identify opportunities for supplier development, cost reduction, process optimization, and other continuous improvement opportunities.
- Onboard new suppliers to ensure successful project launches.
- Develop strong relationships with supplier partners through regular communication, site visits, and supplier scorecard reviews.
- Mitigate supplier risk and develop strategies to prevent supply issues.
- Analyze manufacturing trends and customer usage to provide recommendations to senior management for the development and implementation of new sourcing strategies.
- Collect and interpret procurement data including cost analysis reporting
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Accurate and on-time RFQ to quote submission, including processing, analysis, and final recommendation in consideration of tariff impacts.
- Professional, respectful, collaborative, and effective communication to ensure longevity and consistency with direct reports and other team members.
- On-time submission and approval of Supplier PPAP package.
- Expand global sourcing footprint by analyzing market trends in other countries.
- Develop and grow supplier relationships by negotiating mutually beneficial supplier agreements and attainment of exceptional performance on supplier scorecard
WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE
- Proven experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management preferably in a managerial capacity.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar field preferred.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and negotiation skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across departments.
- Demonstrated success in sourcing and procurement, backed by tangible cost-saving outcomes.
- High level problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Skilled multi-tasker, capable of balancing shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Solution-oriented, data driven critical thinker, committed to meeting internal and external customer expectations.
- Technologically advanced with strong computer skills and capabilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and purchasing and resource planning systems.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good understanding of quality standards and processes, and mechanical drawings.
- Project management skills are a must.
- Work well under pressure and under tight timelines.
- An energetic, diligent work ethic and able to work with little supervision.
- Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally, as required
