About the Role
As a Senior Consultant, Business Operations you will play a key role in our APAC Business Operations team, collaborating seamlessly across time zones with colleagues in the US, Singapore, India, Japan, China, and Australia. This dynamic role sits at the intersection of Finance, Sales Operations, and international Trade, requiring close coordination with both regional and global teams to drive business growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
In this strategic position, you will directly influence the company's financial performance and operational efficiency in one of the world's most dynamic markets. Your expertise will be crucial in Optimizing Sales Operations, and billing processes, enhancing the customer experience, and supporting APAC expansion initiatives. With exposure to diverse markets, you will help shape both financial and sales operations as we strengthen our regional presence.
This full-time position is based in Toronto, Ontario and offers the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for complex international trade challenges while ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. It blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution, making it ideal for a professional looking to expand their expertise in Sales Operations and International Finance while delivering measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
Regional Operations Management
- Oversees Business and financial operations across APAC markets
- Leverages cross-cultural business acumen to enhance regional operations
Financial Risk & Credit Management
- Conducts credit assessments and evaluates client creditworthiness
- Manages financial exposure and implements risk mitigation strategies
International Trade & Documentation
- Oversees Letter of Credit (LC) management and commercial invoicing
- Handles customs procedures and banking documentation
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Manages customs compliance and regulatory requirements across multiple APAC jurisdictions
- Implements and ensures adherence to country-specific regulations, including India's manufacturing initiatives (Make in India) and Chinese broadcasting policies (SARFT)
- Oversees regional compliance frameworks while maintaining business objectives.
Logistics & Shipment Coordination
- Coordinates with global warehouses and manufacturing units
Revenue Operations
- Oversees multi-currency reconciliations and payment term agreements
- Administers partner commission structures and calculations
Business Development Support
- Organizes trade show logistics and partner engagement activities
- Maintains customer database and oversees marketing initiatives
System & Process Optimization
- Evaluates legacy systems to identify upgrade opportunities
- Develops and implements process improvement strategies
Strategic Account Management
- Oversees strategic relationships with key APAC customers in the Direct-to-Home (DTH), Cable, and Broadcasting sectors,
- Leads high-level negotiations and resolves complex trade matters
Skills Required
Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in CRM and Power BI
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems and credit management tools
- Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities
Documentation & Compliance:
- Expertise in international trade documentation and LC processing
- Understanding of BIS/DGFT regulations and import permits (India/Philippines).
- Knowledge of Double Tax Treaty.
- Knowledge of "Make in India" & SARFT Initiative for China
Regional Business Acumen:
- Deep understanding of APAC markets and tax systems
- Experience with cross-border business practices in India, China, Korea, Japan, and ANZ
- Strong knowledge of customs and international logistics.
Other Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting/International Business or equivalent
- 10 years of experience in Business Operations, Finance, or Logistics
- Proven track record in APAC region
- Financial operations and credit assessment
- Payment terms negotiation and account reconciliation
- Dispute resolution and stakeholder management
- Project and logistics management
- In-depth understanding of Media & Entertainment industry solutions and market dynamics to effectively drive sales growth and maintain executive-level client partnerships across the APAC region.
- Fluent in English
Salary and Benefits
This role offers a base salary of $90,000 CAD per annum with an additional 15% annual discretionary bonus. Synamedia also offers private healthcare, vision, dental and life & disability insurances.
