Program: Settlement & Family Services - BCNSP

Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time (16 hours per week)

Number of Positions: 1

Contract Period: July 21, 2025 - March 31, 2026

About the Position:

The Program Assistant is responsible for delivering direct services to students and clients. This position serves as a liaison between clients, staff, and community stakeholders. The Program Assistant also helps to provide relevant settlement services to clients to support their residency in Canada.

Reports to: Program Manager

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Answers all telephone calls promptly and professionally, in accordance with established customer service standards.
  • Assists clients with workshop and program bookings, as well as appointment bookings.
  • Addresses client needs by providing appropriate referrals to agencies, communities, and governmental resources.
  • Delivers translation and interpretation support to clients accessing settlement services where it is appropriate.
  • Produces and disseminates settlement, community, and government service materials to clients.
  • Distributes governmental or other related settlement information to assist clients in completing forms.
  • Make referrals to other community, government, and language training services based on client needs.
  • Responsible for supporting front desk volunteers.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Social or Human Sciences
  • Experience in working with immigrants, newcomers, and refugees
  • Experience with multicultural clientele and immigrant related services
  • Experience in settlement services
  • Knowledge of settlement information and resources
  • Knowledge of the local geographic area

Job Skill and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Additional languages are considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office and web-based applications
  • Excellent attention to detailed and confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to work with individuals and communities facing cultural adjustment challenges
