- General Summary: Lead TBCA's general Health & Safety program initiatives to ensure the safest workplace possible for all TBCA team members at both TBCA facilities.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Lead Machine & Process Risk Assessment activity, including assessment of all TBCA machine hazards and lead risk mitigation strategy with a cross-functional team.
- Support and involvement in the Pre-Start Health & Safety Review process, including tracking of PSHRs and change point management.
- Coordination of the Hazard Assessment program, including Kiken-Yochi weekly meetings with all stakeholders.
- Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee as TBCA Management Representative and ensure maintenance of the JHSC Program to stay in compliance.
- Lead and implement the Work Refusal program, including providing leadership training and administering the procedure.
- Lead incident investigation activity to identify root cause and lead cross-functional countermeasure activity to mitigate any risks to prevent recurrence.
- Lead audit management activity to ensure tracking of compliance, such as ST0P-6, Safety Gemba, etc.
- Create and publish safety talks and weekly communications to all team members at both facilities. Tracking of safety talk compliance by leadership.
- Support the New Model Launch activity and major project change point assessments.
- Willing to learn, adapt and participate in cross-functional training with all department roles.
- Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience:
- Greater than 2 years of relevant experience in an Occupational Health & Safety Role.
- Greater than 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing/industrial setting
- Advanced knowledge of OHSA, CSA and other relevant regulations in Ontario.
- Experience working in both office and industrial settings.
Personal/Technical Skills:
- Understanding of the manufacturing processes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to engage and collaborate with team members of all levels.
- Ability to host training or lectures with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to offer professional advice to ensure the protection of team members' health.
- Open to learning about the Toyota Production System and utilizing techniques to reduce waste in own process.
- Ability to problem solve and open to learning TBBP (Toyota Boshoku Business Practice).
- Ability to differentiate between value and non-value adding job functions.
- Excellent organization skills
- Understanding of the organizational structure and terminology.
- Must be knowledgeable of company products, procedures and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be creative and innovative.
- Strong analytical ability, judgement and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement projects.
- Must be a self-starter who also works well in a team dynamic.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Strong knowledge in all aspects of OHS-related matters.
Language Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of other languages, such as Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish, would be considered an asset.
Computer/Software:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Etc.)
- Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Shop Floor Setting, Moderate to High noise level.
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE such as safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, etc., may be required in engineering, manufacturing and other areas. TBCA Uniform required.
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel between Woodstock & Elmira facilities.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
