  1. General Summary: Lead all Occupational Health & Safety-related training and development activities for all levels of TBCA team members at both facilities.
  1. Essential Job Functions:
  2. Lead the successful onboarding and orientation of all new TBCA team members.
  3. Lead maintenance and improvement of the EHS "Dojo" to keep content relevant and appealing to the audience. Annual/recurring training through targeted campaigns to address top issues and challenges.
  4. Lead various classroom-style training for various OHS-related topics such as LOTO, Working from Heights, Arc Flash, Crane/Hoist, WHMIS, Confined Space, Respiratory Fit Test, Fire Extinguisher, etc, required by legislation.
  5. Provide designated substance training and support a medical surveillance program.
  6. Lead training record management activity using SafetyAMP to keep TBCA within compliance for any certification frequency as required by the Ontario Government or Toyota Boshoku internal rules.
  7. Ability to source and procure outside specialized topic training within the industry and coordinate with the team to host training sessions.
  8. Lead and coordinate supervisory or management training such as FELT Leadership, Due Diligence, Effective Supervisor, Behaviour-Based Safety, etc.
  9. Ability to brainstorm and lead training improvement projects based on OHS-related trends.
  10. Lead training digitization projects to enhance and optimize TBCA training efforts.
  11. Willingness to self-develop and continuously learn to help bring outside training, in-house.
  12. Willingness to pursue coaching and training development programs to enhance skills.
  13. Willing to learn, adapt and participate in cross-functional training with all department roles.
  • Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in OHS, Human Resources, Education or combination of relevant education & experience.

Experience:

  • Greater than 2 years of relevant experience in an OHS Trainer-type role.
  • Greater than 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing/industrial setting
  • Advanced knowledge of OHSA, CSA and other relevant regulations in Ontario.
  • Experience working in both office, classroom and industrial settings.

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of the manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with team members of all levels.
  • Ability to host training lectures and meetings with the management team.
  • Open to learning about the Toyota Production System and utilizing techniques to reduce waste in own process.
  • Ability to problem solve and open to learning TBBP (Toyota Boshoku Business Practice).
  • Ability to differentiate between value and non-value adding job functions.
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Understanding of the organizational structure and terminology.
  • Must be knowledgeable of company products, procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be creative and innovative.
  • Strong analytical ability, judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement projects.
  • Must be a self-starter but also work well together in a team dynamic.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.

Language Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of other languages, such as Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish, would be considered an asset.

Computer/Software:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Etc.)
  1. Work Environment/Conditions:

Office: Shop Floor Setting, Moderate to High noise level.

Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE, such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection, may be required in engineering, manufacturing, and other areas. TBCA Uniform required.

Travel: Must be willing and able to travel between Woodstock & Elmira facilities.

  1. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
