Job DescriptionThe House of Commons' Food services is currently looking to staff the Kitchen Helper position.
Food services provide various hospitality services to Parliamentarians and their employees, House Administration employees and visitors to the Hill. These services are offered by the Parliamentary Dining Room and cafeterias located in different buildings on the Hill.
Food services also provide a full catering service for a variety of functions ranging from a simple coffee service to the complexities of a banquet. We also offer Gourmet at home meals along with various gourmet market items including canapes preserves, pastries, wine and ready set bake meals.
The Kitchen Helper is responsible for working in the Food Production Facility and assisting in all food production, assembling meals, packaging and distribution for an assigned station.
The role requires that the incumbent work weekends and evenings, and at times extended hours and in multiple locations.
The purpose of this posting is to staff the position of Kitchen Helper on a seasonal/on-call/determinate basis (temporary). Hourly Rate $20.35 to $25.74
**For seasonal/on-call basis, the hours of work can vary between 15 to 35 hours. The needs are determined according to the parliamentary sessions. Work periods are from mid-September to mid-December, late January to late June. Operational requirements are interrupted during the summer months and between parliamentary sessions.

QualificationsEducation :
- High school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience;
- Food handler's certification.
Experience :
- Relevant experience in cafeteria and/or deli/sandwich counter in a high-volume food preparation environment;
- Experience in the preparation and plating of meals and packaging of foods;
- Experience in the application of methods, procedures and techniques to ensure food safety.
