Job DescriptionBrampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital are full-service, high-acuity hospitals, supported by a multitude of medical and surgical specialties, including a cardiac catheterization lab and primary percutaneous coronary intervention service, interventional radiology, vascular and thoracic surgery and most medical subspecialties. Emergency medicine physicians benefit from regularly scheduled simulation-based education and POCUS training. The physician scheduling preferences are physician-centric and supported through an excellent scheduling system (MetricAid+) offering convenient and easy access to preference-based scheduling with expert support.
The Division of Emergency Medicine is looking to add additional emergency medicine physicians. Our physicians benefit from a well supported multidisciplinary team including collaborative, experienced emergency nursing teams, orthopaedic technicians, medical lab assistants, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physician navigators, geriatric emergency medicine nurses and crisis workers.
Osler has a vibrant community of emergency medicine clinicians with regular CME, POCUS expertise and support and QI rounds. While a physician may focus their practice around one Emergency Department site, corporate and Urgent Care Centre coverage is an expectation. Compensation is FFS as per the OHIP billing schedule.
Accountabilities:
- Provide a balance of day, weekend, night and HOCC coverage
- Participate in site and corporate rounds
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Participate in one hospital committee
- Accredited medical degree (or equivalent)
- Certification in Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or hold a fellowship in Emergency Medicine from the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- License to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Training and certification in POCUS an asset
- Fellowships in Paediatrics, POCUS or other specialty areas an asset
- Academic experience is an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of attendance, punctuality and accountability
- Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population)
- Models behaviour that aligns with Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
- Expertise in clinical teaching or clinical research preferred for those interested in education or research
