Title: Commercial Litigation & Insolvency Lawyer
Status: Full-time (in-office attendance of at least 3 days per week)
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Salary: $135,000-175,000/Year
Are you an experienced legal professional seeking to make a significant impact in commercial litigation and insolvency matters? We are working with a well-established, full-service law firm in Toronto that is seeking a dynamic lawyer with 8+ years of experience to join their litigation group. This position offers a broad range of complex legal work within a collegial and technologically advanced office setting.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for clients in secured and unsecured debt recovery matters.
- Offer strategic guidance on interest security and enforcement.
- Handle proceedings involving receiverships and insolvency from start to finish.
- Oversee bankruptcy cases, including preparation, filing, and discharge processes.
- Manage diverse commercial litigation files involving contract disputes, lease enforcement, employment issues, injunctions, shareholder disagreements, real estate, and construction lien cases.
- Independently handle files: draft pleadings, conduct examinations, argue motions, engage in dispute resolution, and represent clients at trial.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of proven experience in insolvency, debt collection, and commercial litigation.
- Deep knowledge in security vetting and managing receiverships.
- Strong courtroom presence and drafting capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- Must be willing to work on-site at least 3 days a week.
