DUTIES:

Responsible for indoor general maintenance at various Pumping Stations and LRPCP offices, lunchrooms, control room, laboratory, conference room, locker rooms, washrooms, library and other “non-plant” areas. Required to attend to general maintenance of Pumping Stations grounds and outside Plant areas which includes but is not limited to grass cutting; trimming and fertilizing; setting up sprinkler systems; weeding and weed spraying; shrub trimming and gardening work in flower beds; shovel snow from walkways and spread salt; clean windows; perform maintenance painting and maintain lighting.
May be required to assist mechanical staff and assist in the housekeeping of mechanical and electrical shops and storage areas. May assist in Caretaking duties at the other Plant as required. Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health and Safety program; other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies;
  • Must have over six (6) months general maintenance experience.
  • Must have previous knowledge of building and maintenance materials and equipment and their application in cleaning, repairs and maintenance of buildings;
  • Must be capable of performing duties without detailed instruction and constant supervision;
  • Must be able to make minor maintenance repairs;
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G driver's license in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle, and provide a driver's abstract as a condition on employment.
  • Must have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
  • Must maintain good relations with other employees and the general public.
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a light to medium level of work;
  • Must complete a post-offer strength test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
