SLCS is currently seeking a Full Time Maintenance Technician for 405 Dundas Street, 371 King Street, as well as our four Adult Community Residential Facilities. In this role, the Maintenance Technician will be in charge of preventative maintenance on multiple mechanical operating systems, inclusive of vehicles, repairing/replacing machines/appliances and equipment as well as maintaining accurate maintenance records. The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for repairing damage to rental units occupied by program participants. This role involves general carpentry, plumbing repairs and maintenance, as well as painting, electrical, and minor construction work. This role would also be involved in creating and submitting proposals for large projects. The successful candidate would be in charge of researching efficient options and forging recommendations with the other Maintenance Technician to Program Managers and Directors regarding facility and equipment repairs and/or purchases, as well as establishing and ensuring proper maintenance procedures/checks are followed; all while complying with health and safety regulations.
This position requires someone who is a strong self-starter, has the ability to problem solve quickly, has the ability to research new ways of fixing issues and can work in a team environment. Administrative skills and a great attention to detail are valuable to the role. This position will report to the Director of Corporate Services.
Required Qualifications
- Post-Secondary school diploma in a related field; Completion of trade school certificate, or equivalent work experience
- 2 - 5 years experience working in building/facility maintenance
- Valid G Class Drivers License and a vehicle
- Candidates who are proficient in both official languages of Canada will be considered an asset
