The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a Freight Driver to join our team in Kitchener, Ontario. As the Freight Driver, you will be responsible for completing local deliveries to Leavitt's service, sales, and rental customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Freight Driver your key responsibilities will include:

  • Receive inbound requests from the Freight Coordinator
  • Handle documentation relating to equipment transport
  • Load and unload equipment onto transport truck and trailer
  • Transport equipment to and from various locations
  • Instruct customer equipment operators on basic operation
  • Relay relevant customer feedback onto sales and operational contacts
  • Complete rental check-ins and check-outs
  • Fuel and park rental equipment
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections
  • Communicate with the Vehicle Fleet Coordinator regarding maintenance
  • Ensure that all registrations, insurance, and CIV's are up to date

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Completion of high school diploma
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license and clean driver's abstract
  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience
  • Prior experience operating heavy machinery and/or related industry knowledge is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Required availability: Monday through Friday day shifts

The base pay range for this role is: $31.49 to $34.50 per hour, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Kitchener, Ontario.
