About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our People & Culture team. The Payroll Specialist will be a critical member of our team, responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for all employees across The Canadian Brewhouse Group. This role requires a deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, excellent attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. What You'll Be DoingPayroll Processing: You will manage the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll process for both salaried and hourly employees within Corporate and Head Office departments across multiple provinces (e.g., Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, etc.). This includes accurate calculation of wages, commissions, bonuses, and various deductions (taxes, CPP, EI, WCB, benefits, garnishments). You'll also be responsible for verifying and reconciling payroll data, processing Records of Employment (ROE) submissions, and preparing T4s and other year-end reports. You'll support the end-to-end bi-weekly payroll process for all in-unit (store level) employees and identify any store-level pay issues, working with Operational Leadership to address them.
Compliance and Reporting: You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant federal and provincial payroll legislation, including tax laws, employment standards, and benefit regulations. A key part of your role will be ensuring compliance with all internal policies and external regulatory requirements. You'll also be responsible for preparing and submitting all required payroll remittances externally (CRA, WCB, benefits providers, etc.) and internally (People and Culture, Finance, Executive Leadership). Generating various payroll reports for accounting, HR, and management analysis will also be part of your responsibilities, and you will support the People and Culture or Finance teams with internal and external payroll audits.
System Management & Improvement: You will administer and optimize the PUSH payroll system. This includes identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the payroll function. You will also collaborate with IT and HR to ensure seamless integration and functionality of payroll-related systems.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll management.
Extensive experience processing payroll for a large, multi-provincial organization, ideally within the hospitality, retail, or a similar high-volume environment.
Demonstrated experience with a comprehensive payroll software system (e.g., Ceridian Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, UKG, etc.). Experience working with PUSH would be an asset.
