Position Overview
The Intern at the Senators Community Foundation will play a crucial supporting role in charitable gift distribution, event logistics, donor-report building, and drafting documents for the Foundation. This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about community-driven work. The intern will develop skills in philanthropy, donor stewardship, project management, and event planning, all while contributing to the Foundations mission of supporting children and youth in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
Internship Term: Full-time, September - December 2025
Key Responsibilities
Document Drafting:
- Assist in drafting a variety of Foundation documents, including donation acknowledgment letters, partnership proposals, and meeting briefings.
- Work with the Foundation team to ensure all written materials are professional, concise, and aligned with the organizations communication standards.
- Proofread and edit documents to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Event Logistics:
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of Foundation events, including signature events, corporate social responsibility nights, and third-party event fundraisers.
- Serve as a point of contact for event vendors, sponsors, and participants, ensuring smooth communication and logistics management.
- Assist with event preparation, including drafting event materials, coordinating invitations, managing registrations and organizing post-event reporting and follow-ups.
Donor Report Building:
- Collaborate with the Foundation team to gather data and create donor impact reports, showcasing the outcomes of charitable gifts and programs.
- Help organize and structure donor reports to provide clear insights on how gifts are making a difference in the community.
- Maintain and update donor information and track donor engagement in preparation for reporting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in a University or College program that requires an internship for credit.
- Skills: Strong communication, writing, and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and an ability to work with data.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or nonprofit work is beneficial.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and game nights as required.
- Language Skills: Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
