We are currently hiring on behalf of our client in Trenton, Ontario for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive salary and the chance to lead a high-performing team within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Services teams. This individual will drive continuous improvement, support production operations, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, including ISO 13485.
This role is ideal for candidates with direct experience managing engineering teams and working in regulated environments, particularly those familiar with ISO 13485 and medical manufacturing requirements. Your technical expertise, leadership, and ability to align engineering initiatives with business goals will be essential to your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical staff within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment.
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, FMEA, DFMEA, and other best practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Provide engineering leadership for new product introductions, from concept through to full-scale manufacturing.
- Define and execute departmental goals that align with broader company objectives, with a focus on performance, quality, and employee growth.
- Establish and maintain engineering policies, procedures, and standards.
- Collaborate with quality, production, and other departments to resolve technical issues and address customer complaints and non-conformances.
- Conduct planning during proposal phases, including budgeting, scheduling, and ROI analysis.
- Develop, mentor, and support the professional growth of your engineering team.
- Ensure strong internal and external communication to support successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Direct experience with ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements for medical manufacturing is a strong asset and encouraged.
- Proven experience managing a team of engineers within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with plastics processing technologies (e.g., extrusion, injection molding, over-molding, automation).
- Proficiency in Process FMEA, validation methods, and process optimization techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification is highly desirable.
