POSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking compassionate and dedicated Supported Living Care Workers (SLCWs) to live and work in one of our Camphill homes alongside people we support. This is a live-in position where you will play a key role in supporting one (1) individual with developmental disabilities in their daily lives, fostering independence, and maintaining a warm and supportive home environment.
*In the Supported Living Care Worker Live-in role you will be supporting one (1) individual 5 evenings/nights per week, 4:00pm to 9:00am, *12 hours paid per scheduled overnight/evening shift, Room and Board is provided, Schedule: 5-evening/night rotating shifts with paid active-support and standby hours

KEY COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct, active support to individuals living in the home (personal care, community engagement, daily routines)
  • Support the general upkeep of the home and perform light housekeeping duties such as but not limited to; laundry, cooking, meal prep, grocery shopping, vacuuming, dusting, tidying up.
  • Participate in household activities and promote a healthy, inclusive environment.
  • Remain on-call during designated stand-by hours for emergencies or unexpected needs
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive personal, medical, and financial information of persons with a developmental disability, staff and agency information at all times
  • Maintaining a good rapport with outside agencies and services.
  • Developing and maintaining an appropriate relationship with families.
  • Promoting a positive image of CCO
  • Adhering to the Policies and Procedures outlined in the CCO Policy Manual.
  • Ensuring the Value, Mission and Vision Statement of CCO are upheld.
  • Able to work Active-Support Hours: 12 hours of paid work/day, Stand-by Hours: Overnight presence required, with potential on-call duties
  • Adhere to applicable Legislation; the Occupational Health and Safety Act, AODA, WHMIS, Employment Standards Act (ESA), MCCSS, The Canadian Human Rights Act.
  • Participates in relevant professional training/education/self-development
  • Able and willingness to drive individual supported to and from appointments, meetings, and/or events as needed.
  • Administer medications and complete medication documentation
  • Demonstrate a caring, supportive approach that maintains the dignity and integrity of people receiving services.
  • Knowledgeable about and experienced in mental health and best practices in supporting people with those concerns
  • Knowledge of available and relevant community resources
  • Be able to utilize a personal outcome philosophy-based approach to support individuals in making informed choices that lead to successful attainment of their goals and aspirations
  • Able to inform Individuals about options, and provide opportunities and experiences, supports the exercise of choice and educates about risks and benefits
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Personal Outcome Measures in supporting Individuals to develop a plan and achieve their goals
  • Demonstrated Understand the importance of empowering people to support themselves to be healthy, happy and safe.
  • Advocate for individuals supported and respects confidentiality at all times.
  • Able to apply appropriate responses to unpredictable behaviour.
  • Maintain all required program records and documentation.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills and effective documentation skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills; MS Office, BambooHR, Inclusion, AIMS or other data base management platforms
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a home-like setting
  • Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the Individuals Supported, Community and CCO

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Provide a minimum 3 satisfactory references
  • Comfortable living in a shared home environment
  • Completion of all required training within 30 days of start
  • Ongoing obligation to report any criminal charges

Hold a Valid, Ontario G license, access to a reliable vehicle and insurance.Current Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • DSW College Diploma, PSW Certificate, or 2+ year diploma or degree in Human Services from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on human development and/or behavior.
  • 2-3 years Experience in residential/supported living environment, social services, health care industry and/or supporting people with developmental disabilities is an asset.
  • Valid Standard or Emergency First Aid with CPR certificate, NVCI certificate, Medication Administration training.

TOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

Hourly pay rate: $17.20 per hour, ($1032 per week for *12 hours paid per scheduled evening/overnight shifts, 5 evening/overnight shifts per week).
In addition: A generous benefits package which includes; Extended Health and Dental Benefits, an Employee Family Assistance Program, paid Sick Time, Paid Vacation Time Accrual starting at 160 hours per year (equivalent to 4 weeks of regular 40-hour work weeks) Two (2) Discretionary Days per year, and RRSP with Employer Contribution.
