We are seeking an NPI Buyer for our Power Electronics Division in Georgetown, Ontario. The NPI Buyer is responsible for sourcing, quoting, and procuring materials and components to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and early production builds. This role involves close collaboration with engineering, planning, and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of parts while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets. The NPI Buyer actively engages with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms, and plays a key role in identifying and mitigating supply risks during the product development cycle. This position works under close supervision and requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between CPI and suppliers, ensuring clear communication and alignment on requirements and expectations.
  • Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders in accordance with project timelines and company policies.
  • Gather necessary documentation and send out RFQs (Requests for Quotation) to suppliers for NPI materials and components.
  • Analyze supplier quotes based on cost, lead time, and quality, and make award decisions in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Promptly escalate supplier-related issues that may impact delivery, quality, or cost
  • Provide support to internal CPI teams by addressing procurement-related questions and resolving material availability concerns.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the success of NPI programs and supply chain operations.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to ensure NPI projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Leads annual strategic account negotiations and identifies opportunities to consolidate supplier and/or distributor spend, driving cost savings and improving procurement efficiency.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or equivalent with a relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management in a large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Professional APICS and/or ASCM certification an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or equivalent with a minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management in a large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Professional APICS and/or ASCM certification an asset
  • Working experience with ERP and/or MRP systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.

  • Working knowledge of item attributes and their effects on MRP messages

  • Ability to present possible solutions when notifying management of an issue.

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • In-depth knowledge/understanding of Government contractor purchasing requirements.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships

  • Must be able to meet CGP requirements.
