Position Overview

Ed Seguin & Sons (ESS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager to join its growing team and manage Civil Construction Projects. Key functions of the role include schedule, financial, resource and change management. The successful candidate will work with Superintendents, Project Coordinators, Vendors, Subcontractors, Owners, Consultants and Stakeholders to deliver projects safely on-time and on-budget.

Minimum 5 years of civil construction project management experience is preferred. The Project Manager possesses excellent communication skills, leadership qualities and the ability to form and create lasting relationships. Experience with Procore, MS Office Suite including Project, Excel, Word and 365 interfaces are considered assets. The Project Manager is responsible for the entire life cycle of a project.

Essential Job Functions Include:

Estimating/Tendering:

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs
  • Propose methodology and sequencing of work
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Review contracts and assess risk
  • Prepare tender documents and submissions

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Identify project hazards, challenges, milestones and provide recommendations for success
  • Assist in the preparation of a project specific statement of requirements and project plan in conjunction with Operations Manager, HSE Project Coordinator, Superintendent and Supervisor
  • Assist in recruiting and training direct reports as required
  • Manage Budgets, Commitments, Prime Contracts, RFIs, Change Events and Change Orders
  • Create and maintain project schedules
  • Educate and coach direct reports

Related Management Skills:

  • Participate in the hiring process
  • Identify and resolve conflicts and issues
  • Utilize MS 365 and Procore to control documents.
  • Manage employee success, perform performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Respond clearly and promptly to project stakeholders and team members
  • Establish and maintain project communication and relations
  • Action and embody the company core values

Contract Administration

  • Review and consult with operation team members regularly
  • Review, approve, apply, and monitor project safety program and ensure adequate safety representation
  • Manage RFIs and change effectively
  • Understand and comply with contract requirements
  • Ensure quality management standards are met
  • Attend/host project meetings and execute action items
  • Produce, monitor progress and update project schedules on a regular basis
  • Approve direct report timesheets daily
  • Generate reports for Senior Management and Owners
  • Manage project financials including invoicing and budgets

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Graduation from a 3 year College Program or University Degree and/or related industry specific experience. Professional designations such as C.E.T., P. Eng, PMP are considered an asset.
  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in civil construction project management
  • Project Management techniques
  • Computer and software including MS 365 Pro and Procore
  • Sales, pricing and costing including forecasting
  • Good knowledge of construction regulations

Work location/Schedule

The Project Manager works regular day shifts, with a schedule based on an average of 50 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work, as well as on-call work, may result in work beyond your regularly scheduled hours. This position requires frequent local travel to office, project locations and occasional travel to remote project locations; a valid drivers license and clean driving record are necessary.
