With over 30 years in the industry, they are known for delivering high-quality molded components. They are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Cost Estimator to join their team.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Cost Estimator will be responsible for evaluating customer RFQs and managing all aspects of cost estimation for new and transfer programs. This includes preparing RFQ documentation and submitting proposals using customer-specific templates and web portals. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to communicate all production, purchasing, and labor assumptions involved in the quoting process.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage quoting activities for new and transferred programs.
Source competitive pricing for tooling, resins, and components and share findings with the Purchasing & Materials Supervisor.
Clearly communicate product quote terms and conditions to relevant departments (Purchasing, Materials, and Quality).
Present cost estimates and lead review sessions with Product Realization teams.
Support cost-saving initiatives, feasibility studies, continuous improvement projects, and time studies.
Obtain a minimum of three competitive quotes for tooling, resins, and components unless exceptions are approved.
Participate in QPP meetings with Program Managers and project teams.
Provide detailed cost breakdowns to Program Managers and plant staff for tooling, resins, colorants, and components.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent computer proficiency (Word, Excel, data analysis).
Hands-on knowledge of polymer systems, mold flow, and cycle time estimation.
Understanding of tooling processes and toolmaking.
Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T principles.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.Sc.) and/or Mechanical Engineering diploma.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimating, cost accounting, or injection molding engineering.
Strong technical background in molding and manufacturing environments.
Proven experience in R&D settings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project Management tools, and AutoCAD.
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2000, TS 16949:2002 standards, and customer-specific requirements.
Knowledge of Core Tools: PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA, SPC.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing practices.
Preferred:
3+ years in cost estimating.
5+ years in plastic injection molding.
