Job Title: People & Culture Manager
Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer
Location: Hybrid: primarily remote, but required to travel to our Provincial Office (1179 King St W, Toronto, ON, M6K 3C5) or a regional office when required
Hours: 37.5hrs per week
Annual Salary: $90,000 - $93,000
Duration: One year contract, with an opportunity for extension
Position Overview:
This role will lead a team of HR professionals to support Autism Ontario's day-to-day HR operations and will be overseeing the delivery of all HR processes relating to employee life cycle transactions, HRIS optimization to ensure consistency, integrity and equity in the work we deliver. With lenses on continuous improvements and HR best practices, you will recommend sustainable business solutions to drive a high-performing team
As a trusted advisor and partner to all Autism Ontario employees, the People and Culture Manager provides advice, guidance, and support on all HR matters, including HR strategies, policies, guidelines, and programs and HR specialty areas like EDI, total rewards, performance management, employee relations and talent acquisition etc. In collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer, they contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
HR (50%)
- Provide talent acquisition and retention techniques, enhancing the recruitment process and time. Advice on job design and enhance job evaluation processes.
- Ensure policies and procedures are current and are in keeping with current relevant legislation for Human Resources (HR), ESA, Health and Safety, and AODA.
- Provide guidance and support related to HR policies, practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with managers to identify performance gaps, provide coaching and support and implement performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Act as the go-to person for employees to get advice, guidance and coaching on matters related to policy, disability management, and accommodation.
- Ensure all HR management functions including recruitment, training, employee relations and performance management are carried out according to Autism Ontario's policies and procedures.
- Supervisory responsibilities for managing the performance of the assigned HR team.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDI (50%)
- Partners with all stakeholders to implement the AR/EDI initiatives.
- Ensures organization-wide progress on AR/EDI initiatives are monitored with the use of metrics to measure short and long-term impact.
- Demonstrates expert insight into the organization's AR/EDI risks and opportunities within the context of its internal and external operating environment.
- Oversee EDI committee/council or other such groups within the organization to support the creation of inclusive and safe work environments.
- Develop and implement strategies for improving employee sense of belonging within Autism Ontario, developing a metric for employee sense of belonging and ensures the organization is striving to maintain it.
Qualifications:
- Diploma and/or bachelor's degree in human resources management or business specialization.
- CHRP/CHRL designation and in good standing.
- A diploma or certificate or education in AR/EDI specialization is an asset
- Experience or demonstrated commitment to AR/EDI inclusive of conceptualizing, developing and implementing EDI strategies. This experience may be supplemented with broad experience, a strong aptitude towards change management and an interest in becoming an EDI subject matter expert.
- 5 years experience in Human Resource management experience including workplace accommodations, performance management and employee relations.
- Must be proficient with various computer programs including database management, email, and Microsoft Office applications and have familiarity with social media.
- Experience with creating reports, presentations and communication vehicles for staff learning and development.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of legislation and laws related to Human Resources. AR/EDI such as the AODA, Human Rights Code, H&S Act and Employment Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, anti-Black racism, anti-ableism.
- French language is an asset.
