Summary

Vishay Precision Group (VPG) is seeking a detail-oriented Opto-Electronics Technician to support the assembly, alignment, calibration, and testing of electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies used in precision sensor systems.

Salary Range: $27/hour-$32/hour

Responsibilities:

  • · Opto-Electronics device integration, testing and precision laser alignment for TC systems.
  • · Quality Verification and inspection, functionally test and set up printed circuit boards and systems, following prescribed procedures.
  • · Troubleshoot units both mechanical and electrical. Repair defective units, consulting with Engineering on complex problems.
  • · Monitor tests and record required data on prescribed forms. Prepare proper written records of all test results, using prescribed forms.

Requirements:
  • Associate degree or Diploma in Electronics Technician or Technology, Optics, Photonics, Laser Technology, or related fields.
  • Eligible for OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists) designation is an asset.
  • C.E.T or C.Tech. Certificate is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electronics assembly, including surface mount soldering and fiber optic splicing.
  • Proficiency in operating specialized equipment like optical microscopes, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and laser systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision while meeting schedules.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., and to work in a manufacturing environment with a moderately noisy setting.
  • Must have good analog and digital electronics knowledge and good troubleshooting abilities to the component level.
  • Must be able to work from schematics, assembly drawings, test and manufacturing procedures.
  • Must be fully conversant with all test equipment, i.e. scopes, analyzers, etc.
