Position Overview:
Our client, a rapidly growing aerospace company based in Lindsay, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to guide the mechanical and structural development of advanced aircraft systems. With an expanding portfolio that supports both commercial and military applications, this role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep experience in aerospace design, composites, and stress analysis. This is a high-impact position for a seasoned engineer ready to shape the next generation of aerospace technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and grow teams in the Design and Aerostructures disciplines, including mentoring and technical oversight
Architect and develop mechanical systems at both the aircraft and component levels
Perform hands-on structural design and analysis for critical systems: fuselage, propulsion mounts, landing gear, and housings
Select advanced materials (composites, aluminum alloys, titanium, polymers) based on performance and durability criteria
Drive development from concept through prototyping, testing, and release to production
Optimize structures for strength, fatigue, stiffness, and thermal performance
Collaborate with suppliers to validate materials, fabrication methods, and design constraints
Conduct failure investigations and resolve mechanical issues with root cause analysis
Support and guide PLM development and configuration management practices
Ensure engineering compliance with TCCA, FAA, and EASA certification requirements
Help transition the organization from SolidWorks to CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE platform
Build and implement test infrastructure for structural and system verification
Identify and establish external partnerships with research institutions and technology collaborators
Promote continuous improvement, training, and process development across engineering disciplines
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
8–10 years of product development experience in the aerospace industry
Minimum 5 years in a senior engineering or engineering leadership role
Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, including SWX Flow Simulation
Experience with composite structures and stress analysis in aerospace applications
Familiarity with CATIA V6 and/or the 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform
Demonstrated success managing full product lifecycles — concept to production
Working knowledge of regulatory compliance under TCCA, FAA, or EASA frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with eVTOL or advanced aerospace platforms is an asset
Background in PLM systems, prototype development, and flight hardware design
Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
