Position Overview:
Our client, a fast-growing aerospace company headquartered in Lindsay, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Engineer – Test & Instrumentation to lead the development, maintenance, and operation of engineering test facilities for their next-generation aircraft systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on supporting both development and certification testing—key to the successful launch of advanced technologies including eVTOL platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in systems engineering, test operations, and regulatory compliance, combined with a strong, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of test infrastructure, methodologies, and operational principles for new aircraft technologies
Build and maintain engineering test facilities to support both development and certification testing phases
Define and execute comprehensive test strategies across multiple systems and subsystems
Oversee test coverage, reliability, safety, and system integrity during all phases of testing
Design, assemble, and operate mechanical and electrical test rigs and instrumentation systems
Lead integration efforts and troubleshoot complex hardware and system-level issues
Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to ensure test plans align with design and certification goals
Apply systems-thinking approaches and first-principles engineering to develop scalable test solutions
Influence the structure and growth of the internal test organization and mentor junior team members
Ensure all test activities comply with safety standards and regulatory certification requirements
Take a hands-on role in rig and facility builds—this is not a desk-only position
Required Qualifications:
8–10 years of experience in engineering roles focused on Test & Instrumentation, Systems Engineering, or similar disciplines
At least 5 years of direct systems engineering experience within the aerospace or automotive industry
Proven track record working across the full development lifecycle—concept, integration, testing, and certification
Hands-on experience with test systems, instrumentation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Familiarity with eVTOL platforms and certification requirements is preferred
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and practices including TCCA, FAA, and EASA
Experience working within industry guidelines such as ARP4754, ARP4761, or equivalent standards
Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and leadership skills
Comfortable with hands-on work in a test facility environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building out new test labs or scaling existing test infrastructure
Familiarity with aircraft electrification, propulsion systems, or advanced mobility platforms
Background in developing automated testing tools and data acquisition systems
Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
