Position: Quality Control Inspector

Reports to: Estimating Manager/Site Superintendent

Location: Various

Job Brief:

The Quality Control Inspector E&I reports to the Estimating Manager and Site Superintendent. This role is responsible for ensuring electrical and instrumentation work meets project specifications, safety standards, and project requirements. The Quality Control Inspector verifies work quality through inspections, testing, and documentation, ensuring compliance with established procedures. They are also responsible for ensuring that the Company's work products meet clients', engineering, and all other relevant code specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual inspections, dimensional tests, and various electrical and instrumentation tests to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Verify the installation of electrical and instrumentation components, including cables, conduits, instruments
  • Conduct tests of continuity, insulation resistance, and other relevant parameters.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Control Tech and Client specifications and contract requirements.
  • Prepare and submit inspection reports to the client or relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend client meetings as required.
  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of QA/QC procedures and take corrective measures when necessary.
  • Review project documents like specifications, drawings, and BOQ to identify quality and engineering criteria for E & I Work.
  • Participate in on-site receiving inspection of E&I materials to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Review and prepare ITP's (Inspection and Test Plans) for E&I work.
  • Create and audit QAQC work packages.
  • Ensure continuity in the Quality program throughout all areas of responsibility.
  • Assist all team members as required to execute projects safely.
  • Various duties assigned by your supervisor for project completion are not limited to Quality Control.
  • Participates in/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Strong knowledge of code, standards, and regulation requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Ability to multi-task important projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and complete them within scheduled deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using inspection and testing equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Willingness to continually learn and advance technical knowledge.
  • Journeyman certification Electrical/Instrumentation (Master Electrician an Asset)
  • Strong Knowledge of Electrical codes.
  • Experience in multi-discipline activities.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
  • Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
  • Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech's standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
