About the Role / Key Accountabilities:

  • Update and verify payroll transactions to ensure accurate and timely pay deposits.
  • Complete payroll processing for all hourly personnel within provincial and federal jurisdictions.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of reported hours and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Calculate payroll adjustments for approved time-off requests, including sick and vacation leave.
  • Process employee changes such as new hires, terminations, status changes, and pay rate updates.
  • Verification of deductions to ensure accuracy, including benefits (co-shared deductions) and perform calculations of any arrears where applicable.
  • Assist with the administration of the company's group benefits program, including monthly invoice reconciliations.
  • Ensure payroll is balanced prior to processing and transmission.
  • Prepare Records of Employment (ROE) and respond to Employment Insurance inquiries.
  • Support payroll compliance efforts and assist with monitoring and researching legislative updates.
  • Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries with a focus on excellent service and support.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar payroll-related role
  • Experience with full-cycle payroll processing
  • Familiarity with the transportation industry and payroll software considered an asset
  • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent accounting background required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups, and IF functions.
