Position Overview:

The Locator is responsible for installing underground pipelines, cables, and service conduits through trenchless methods to support safe and accurate drilling operations.
Please note: This is a unionized position.

Key Functions & Duties:

  • Conduct site assessments to locate underground utilities using electronic locating equipment such as DigiTrak F5 Falcon and ground-penetrating radar (GPR).
  • Mark utility positions clearly for construction crews using paint, flags, or stakes.
  • Operate and maintain utility locating equipment, ensuring proper calibration and function.
  • Assist with directional drilling operations by coordinating bore paths and back reaming.
  • Load, unload, and transport equipment safely and securely.
  • Complete driver logbooks, vehicle inspections, and maintenance reports.
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Able to operate the drill locater as required

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid AZ drivers license with a clean abstract.
  • Minimum 2 years experience operating utility locating equipment and directional drilling locators.
  • Experience operating Vermeer drills and Ditch Witch equipment is an asset.
  • Ability to work outdoors performing manual labor in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of telecom outside plant is an asset.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
