The Forklift Operator/Material Handler plays a pivotal role within our logistics team whose responsibility is to provide overall warehousing support for the production teams with key materials required for our global manufacturing and distribution efforts.

This position is crucial for enhancing and maintaining our production cycle, thereby meeting our customer satisfaction needs and on-time-delivery metrics. The primary duties for this position is operating propane forklifts, moving materials in the outdoor yard storage area, and accurately labelling products within the assigned work area.

This position is located in Scarborough, Ontario and the assigned work area is mostly outside in a closed-cab forklift. The company provides additional PPE as needed for the appropriate weather conditions.

Key Accountabilities:

• Moving materials predominantly outside and within internal warehousing area using a propane-powered forklift (counterbalance)
• Accurately labelling all materials in designated areas as assigned
• Regularly relaying information to the Manager, Materials & Logistics or other supervisor
• Overseeing and maintaining parts, materials, and other equipment while moving throughout warehouse areas both outside and inside
• Performing receiving and order-picking data-entry transactions, using a Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) software, as needed
• Adhering to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
• Operating gantry crane, or other mobile equipment as required
• All other duties as may be assigned

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to the elements through seasonal weather when working outdoors
• Low to moderate physical activity, requiring occasional lifting up to 15 lbs., transferring material up to 30 lbs.
• Sitting, kneeling, reaching, bending, walking
  

What Were Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

• High-school education, or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Material Handler or Shipper Receiver in a Warehousing environment
• Minimum 2-years experience operating a forklift, propane preferred
• Valid and active counterbalance training certificate
• Willingness to work in various types of weather
• Great verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well independently while part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail for accurately labelling materials and finished products
• Strong work ethic and a sense of urgency working in a time-sensitive environment
• Computer-savvy and experience with data entry
• Ability to communicate authentically in all interactions
