Position Overview:

The role of the Estimator is to receive project scopes and create quotations for projects ranging from simple to complex. This role is key at Raymond EMC as it supports various sales channels and enabling quick turnaround times for clients, allowing REMC to continue developing as a major supplier within its industry segment.

  • Position Type: Full-time, In Office
  • Location:400-1430 Blair Towers Place, Ottawa ON
  • Compensation: $60,000/year to start, based on experience
  • Flexible Scheduling:While this role requires an 8-hour workday in the office, employees have the flexibility to choose their start and end times within a defined range to support work-life balance.
  • Time Off:
    • 3 weeks of paid vacation per year
    • 5 paid sick days per year

Responsibilities:

  • Taking information provided within a scope checklist from Engineering and Design and generating cost estimates including labour, materials and third-party elements for each project.
  • Product lines range from waveguide vents and maintenance to complex anechoic chambers and Quietshelters.
  • Ensuring that information provided to and by vendors is accurately reflected in the estimate.
  • Ensuring that estimates have proper baseline financial information (such as margins, fx rates).
  • Creation and submission of the quotations including RFPs and tenders where required.
  • In collaboration with the Lead Estimator, evaluate costing accuracy and implement continuous improvement to processes and templates.
  • Utilizing Sales CRM software (HubSpot) for all workflow activities, pipeline management and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Ability to obtain a Level 2 Security Clearance with the Government of Canada (requires a minimum of 10 years of residency in Canada)
  • Willingness to provide consent for Raymond EMC to conduct a criminal background check
  • Demonstrated integrity, adaptability, and a strong team-oriented mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Assets:

  • 3-5 years experience in Estimating
  • Experience with HubSpot or similar CRM
  • A degree/diploma in a technical field
