Operations Manager
The Operations Manager oversees daily operations, supports leadership, ensures service delivery, and manages quality, safety, and efficiency across multiple divisions. This role spans year-round responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on winter operations (snow and ice control), logistical coordination, and workforce supervision.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years experience in Snow + Ice Operations, fleet coordination, or heavy equipment logistics.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario transportation regulations, CVOR requirements, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication verbal, written, text/messaging
- Tech-savvy ability to utilize technology, strong understanding of app usage, Microsoft 365
- Experienced in using fleet tracking apps, and spreadsheets.
- Skilled in time-sensitive decision making and effective communication under pressure.
- Knowledge of winter operations or snow removal logistics is an asset.
- Valid A Class License
- Demonstrated ability to lead and build a team over time.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating systems that scale.
Core Roles + Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations across service divisions (grounds maintenance, enhancements, logistics, and snow).
- Supervise crew leaders and field staff, ensuring schedules, routing, and quality standards are met.
- Support seasonal hiring, onboarding, and training of field staff.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and asset readiness; liaise with the fleet manager for servicing needs.
- Uphold and enforce health & safety protocols across job sites and yards.
- Track and manage KPIs such as job completion rates, quality scores, crew efficiency, and attendance.
- Utilize company software and apps to track labor, job progress, and asset movement.
Snow & Ice Management (Winter Operations)
- Lead all snow operations, including event readiness, team dispatching, and in-event supervision.
- Manage operator rosters, shift scheduling, and attendance tracking per event.
- Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings with crews.
- Ensure all snow equipment is prepped, fueled, and safely staged before each event.
- Monitor weather forecasts and coordinate operational response (salting, plowing, shoveling).
- Oversee vendor and subcontractor performance during winter events.
- Report incidents, safety concerns, and property damage immediately.
- Ensure real-time communication with crews, clients, and leadership during storm events.
- Maintain accurate records of service delivery for billing, insurance, and compliance.
Team & Leadership
- Support team growth through coaching, mentorship, and corrective action when needed.
- Assist with staff evaluations and contribute to performance improvement plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and teamwork.
Client & Quality Control
- Conduct quality audits on-site to ensure services meet contractual obligations.
- Respond to service issues and resolve client concerns quickly and professionally.
- Support client walkthroughs, inspections, and seasonal planning.
