About the Role:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. YMCA of Northern Alberta strives to integrate our values of diversity and social inclusion in all that we do. Responsibilities:

· Consistently represent YMCA's values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing and Health regulations

· Spend a minimum of 75% of time in the classrooms

o Work with Director to ensure curriculum is consistently implemented across the center, with a focus on transitional times and programming that occurs outside of the center

o Ensure Educators are meeting expectations outlined in their job descriptions and that the environment is clean and in good repair; coach and mentor Educators as required

· Extend programming outside the classroom ensuring that all aspects of curriculum are being met including both outdoor and small group experiences

· Utilize skills and resources to extend and scaffold the interest within the classroom and the outdoor environment – Supporting rooms with materials/prop boxes

Work as a ratio Educator, as required including supporting other programs

· Seek out ways to communicate and build relationships with families and the community

· Work as an in-classroom mentor for new hires following the training manual; work with Director on training plan for all new Educators

Qualifications:

· Level 3 Child Care Certification

· Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR – C

· Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check

· Demonstrated leadership skills

· Ability to work in a team

· Excellent organizational and time management skills

· Willingness to learn and grow
