Northern Transformer is a Canadian-owned, fast growing manufacturer of power transformers. Our team delivers transformers of the highest quality through superior design, quality workmanship and attention to our clients' individual needs.

Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Supplier Quality Technician to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities of the "Supplier Quality Technician”

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to select suppliers based on their quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and quality performance.
  • Perform Supplier Qualification activities to ensure the supplier meets our quality expectations.
  • Define and communicate quality standards and inspection criteria to suppliers.
  • Work with design engineering to develop the various documentation required for the supplier to meet the quality requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure they understand and adhere to the agreed-upon quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits (virtual or on-site) to assess their quality management systems, process control methods.
  • Perform incoming inspection on all received product.
  • Monitor compliance with legal environmental regulations as part of ISO 14001, including tracking CO2 emissions
  • Develop and Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Responsible for issuing, monitoring, and driving to conclusion 8D and SCAR processes.
  • Work closely with suppliers to implement continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier assessments, audits, and corrective actions taken.
  • Prepare regular reports on supplier quality performance and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a focus on Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Engineering.
  • Prior Experience: 4+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related field.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, production systems, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems: Understanding of quality management systems (QMS) such as ISO, IEE, CSA, N299.
  • Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and tools, including statistical process control (SPC), capability analysis, hypothesis testing, and design of experiments (DOE), Control Plans and to analyze process data and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Quality Tools and Techniques: Familiarity with quality tools and techniques such as Pareto analysis, fishbone diagrams, process mapping, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate quality risk
