The Opportunity

We are hiring an Accounting Manager to lead DROP Sprockets financial operations across both Canada and the United States. Reporting to the CFO, this global-facing role will oversee core accounting functions for our Canadian head office in South Slocan, British Columbia, while also supporting financial activities at our U.S. location in Libertyville, Illinois.
You will lead a small accounting team and take ownership of financial reporting, internal controls, planning, and compliance. The role also carries light responsibility for HR and payroll oversight, including coordination of compensation processes, benefits administration, and employee records in partnership with leadership.

The role is based in South Slocan with some hybrid flexibility and regular collaboration with the onsite teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, internal financial reporting, and cash flow management
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, customer credit reviews, vendor payments, and financial risk monitoring
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the ERP system (Odoo) and drive process improvement across financial workflows
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with business leaders
  • Manage the development, alignment, and performance of 2 Accounting Clerks
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance with Canadian GAAP
  • Coordinate payroll processes, compensation tracking, and government remittances
  • Support HR administration, including benefits enrollment and employee records management
  • Collaborate with the CFO and operational leaders in South Slocan and Libertyville on financial reporting, business planning, and decision support
  • Lead or contribute to the implementation and optimization of financial and administrative systems

Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Experience overseeing or supporting payroll, benefits, or HR systems
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms, preferably Odoo or similar
  • Demonstrated success implementing or optimizing financial systems or processes
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred but not required:

  • CPA designation (or in progress)
  • Experience in manufacturing, job costing, or inventory-based accounting
  • Exposure to U.S. financial practices or cross-border financial operations
