Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze data to support scientific investigations.
- Carry out routine tasks and follow strict methodologies.
- Prepare specimens and samples.
- Construct, maintain, and operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Record and process patient data.
- Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced.
- Research and apply recent developments to improve reliability.
- Demonstrate practical scientific procedures and observe strict safety procedures and safety checks.
- Write reports, summaries, and protocols regarding experiments.
- Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments and laboratory equipment.
- Responsible for lab-cleaning, sample disposal, monthly inventory check, and safety duties.
- Bachelor's degree in science, diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related discipline.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT).
- Understanding of patient process and its application.
- Working knowledge of laboratory techniques, terminology, equipment, and materials.
- High-level sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
- Mathematical and scientific skills in interpretation of test results and analyses.
- Application of data processing and analytics.
- Must be knowledgeable in health & safety and environmental standards.
- Must possess a strong understanding of WHMIS and MSDS.
- Participation in training and development of lab personnel.
- Experience working with MS Office/BIS suite.
- Oral and record delivery of vital patient information, and execution skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
