Job Summary:

Our client is looking for a Production Manager to lead the manufacturing operations at our Ontario-based food production facility. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of food safety and quality standards in Canada, and a passion for continuous improvement. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of food production, ensuring timely output while maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency), Health Canada, HACCP, GMP, and other federal/provincial regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and support production staff, ensuring proper training, performance management, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements using lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Promote a culture of health and safety in line with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Work with Health & Safety teams to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Inventory & Resource Planning: Work with purchasing and inventory teams to manage raw materials and packaging supplies to avoid production delays.
  • Reporting & KPIs: Track and report on production metrics including output, downtime, waste, and labour utilization. Prepare daily and weekly performance summaries for management.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFIA regulations, HACCP, and GMP standards.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced food production environment.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on production needs.
