Job description

The Security Technician is a motivated, organized, and personable individual willing to contribute their experience and expertise in the area of service and installation of Alarm Intrusion, Access Control and CCTV Systems. The Security Technician is a team player and a vital member of the CFLS Team.

The Security Technician role is a full time - hourly position. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:

Task and Responsibilities:

  • Perform service and installation work on various intrusion, access control and video surveillance systems.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and clients regarding status and progress of assigned work
  • Door hardware installation and configuring
  • Self motivation and interest in industry knowledge
  • Perform routine inspections of intrusion and fire monitoring systems
  • Work with aerial lifts, ladders and hand tools
  • Safe use of power tools
  • Install cabling and conduit in commercial and industrial buildings
  • Prepare concise and timely work orders while on site
  • Prepare weekly time sheets and submit for payroll
  • Required to be on the On-Call after hours rotation
  • Keep company vehicle organized and properly stocked with supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience as an installation and security service technician an asset
  • Logical thinking and troubleshooting an asset
  • Understanding of data networks and network-based systems an asset
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • General construction knowledge an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills an asset
  • Knowledge of the fire alarm and sprinkler industry an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
