M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. is seeking a candidate for a full-time position as a Soft Landscape and Maintenance Foreman. Residential and commercial experience is required for this position. Reporting directly to the Maintenance and Planting Supervisor, your requirements and responsibilities will include:

Requirements
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, multitasking, and results-oriented.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a horticulture technician landscaper in a maintenance and construction role.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Able to operate any necessary landscape maintenance equipment, small landscape construction equipment, and commercial sod equipment.
  • Must be able to interpret landscape drawings, specifications, and details is an asset and can be trained.
  • Required to have good plant species knowledge and identification.
  • Valid Class “G” Driver's License (Must be 25 to be insurable), and experience towing trailers.
  • Landscape diploma or certification is an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all work is completed to Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) standards.
  • Communicate with the supervisor and management team to ensure that all maintenance warranty, on-site issues, and resource requirements are met.
  • Coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as needed due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
  • Training and mentoring workers.
  • Creating and maintaining positive working relationships with crew members.
  • Complete daily electronic log and time sheets.
  • Provide time and equipment estimates when required for work.
  • Arrange that all required materials, equipment, and tools are on site as needed.
  • Responsible for the completion and quality of assigned jobs and tasks.
  • Complete lawn, tree, shrub, and perennial maintenance, weeding, and pruning as required.
  • Execute small landscape construction projects and commercial sod installation when needed.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Minor equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Responsible for the daily completion and quality of all activities.
  • Execute all areas of commercial and residential landscape construction projects.
  • Work in a way that will not endanger yourself or others.
  • Understand the hazards associated with tasks and controls in place.
  • Complete daily Pre-job Safety Assessment (PSA), and weekly toolbox safety talk, and monthly emergency equipment inspections.
  • Conduct work performance evaluations as needed.
  • Use equipment, protective devices, and clothing based on OHSA legislation, and M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. safe work practices, safe job procedures, and Health and Safety policies.
  • Report all incidents, unsafe conditions, and unidentified hazards to your supervisor.
  • Ensure pre-use inspections for equipment are completed prior to using the equipment.
  • WHMIS, 5 Step Health & Safety Awareness, Workplace Violence & Harassment for Supervisors, and AODA.

This is a full-time seasonal position. Remuneration is based on qualifications and experience. References required upon request.
