Role: Senior Financial Controller – Real Estate Sector
Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced finance leader to take charge of a broad range of accounting and financial functions across a dynamic real estate development group. This position is ideal for someone with a hands-on approach who thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable working closely with executive leadership. The successful candidate will play a vital role in financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and systems management across multiple business units.

Responsibilities Overview

Financial Reporting & Oversight

• Prepare consolidated financial statements and provide ongoing support to leadership through monthly and quarterly management reports, dashboards, and financial analysis

• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including compliance with tax and statutory obligations

• Deliver actionable insights to the CFO by understanding operational drivers across different divisions

• Oversee journal entries, subledger accuracy, and assist with complex accounting matters

• Manage audit-related preparations and serve as primary liaison during internal and external audits

Leadership & Team Management

• Supervise and develop a team including property accountants, AP specialists, and general accounting staff

• Conduct performance reviews, provide mentorship, and ensure resource alignment with business needs

• Encourage a high-performance culture with accountability and ownership at all levels of the team

Operational Finance & Support

• Lead budgeting processes and support forecasting and cost modeling efforts

• Provide strategic financial support to departments such as property management and construction operations

• Assist with managing accounts receivable and improving collection performance

• Maintain and refine financial policies, procedures, and controls to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risk

• Support the implementation and optimization of financial systems with a focus on Yardi software upgrades and utilization

• Drive consistent financial practices and reporting standards across divisions

Qualifications & Skills

• 8+ years of senior-level accounting experience, ideally in real estate development or related sectors

• CPA designation (or in progress) is strongly preferred

• Proven success in managing teams and fostering staff development

• Strong analytical and organizational abilities with a commitment to process improvement

• Familiarity with project/job costing and its application in real estate environments

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools

• Demonstrated expertise in ERP platforms such as Yardi, Great Plains, SAP, or Sage

• Confident communicator capable of explaining financial data clearly to senior stakeholders
