Location: Sodexo Live is seeking a General Manager for the Whistler Conference Centre in beautiful Whistler, Canada.

Unit Description:

The Whistler Conference Centre, in Whistler Canada, is North America's largest and most visited four-season mountain resort. Located in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia, less than two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler offers over 8,000 acres of skiable terrain, two interconnected mountains (Whistler and Blackcomb), and a renowned pedestrian village that hosts millions of guests annually.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead all operational and strategic Food & Beverage functions at our Whistler Conference Centre. The GM will be responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences, driving business performance, and fostering a high-performing, safety-focused team culture. This role oversees all details of the operation, including food & beverage, retail, human resources and finance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day food and beverage operations within the venue, ensuring efficient service and quality standards are maintained.
  • Manage multiple aspects within the venue (catering, bars, etc.), ensuring smooth operations during high-volume event demands.
  • Monitor costs, revenue, and profitability; identify areas to improve financial performance.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction, always ensuring high-quality service and guest experience.
  • Handle customer challenges or concerns swiftly and professionally, ensuring issues are resolved to the client's satisfaction.
  • Lead and manage a team of food and beverage staff, including chefs, servers, bartenders, and support personnel.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and high morale.
  • Work in tandem with the facility's Conference & Event Sales Team, Conference Sales & Services Team, Facility Management Team, to ensure a seamless operation focused on nurturing a positive guest and staff experience.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience, ideally within a resort setting, hospitality, tourism, hotel management.
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of delivering revenue growth and profitability.
  • Deep understanding of mountain resort operations and knowledge of the staffing challenges a resort setting brings.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams in a high-intensity seasonal/year-round environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and community engagement skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, employee dependent, guest-facing business.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the event schedule.

Other Requirements:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly quartered environment.
