Responsibilities:

  • Obtain approvals for construction and operational activities from agencies including highway, municipal, rail, and pipeline authorities.
  • Review contracts and permit applications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Manage permitting components of projects, ensuring alignment with timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings (plan, profile, cross-section) and request revisions as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies to facilitate efficient permit acquisition.
  • Maintain organized records of permitting activities and documentation.
  • Work independently while managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools such as Maximo, ProjectWise, Oracle, and online permitting portals.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of land permitting experience.
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead permitting efforts across multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and understand technical construction drawings and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive, professional approach to independent work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Maximo, ProjectWise, Oracle, and online portals is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Prior planning experience, environmental experience, and legal knowledge related to permit acquisition are considered an asset.
  • Experience in utilities, natural gas pipelines, or construction is an asset.
