Pharmacist (Contract)

Are you a recent pharmacy graduate looking to get your foot in the industry? Are you looking for a retail opportunity where you'll be more than just a nametag to customers? A place where you'll get the chance to know, help, and catch up with familiar faces every day? If so, we are the place for you.

Our store has enjoyed a long history in our community. Originally founded in the 1950's, and purchased by the current owner in 2011, H. Clark Pharmasave has been providing prescriptions, pharmacy services, diabetes management, general health and wellness, medication management, injection/travel health, advice, and retail services to generations of customers.

H. Clark Pharmasave

That's where you come in

As our new part-time contract Pharmacist, you'll bring a compassionate, patient-first focus to everything you do. You will check and dispense medication, communicate with physicians, provide patients with health advice, and explain the proper use of medication. This store is just one of many affiliate stores in the area, which means that you will have plenty of opportunity to pick up more hours, or the potential to join the team in a permanent full-time position down the road.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely dispensing and checking of prescriptions
  • Liaise with health care professionals involved in patient circle of care
  • Provide value-added services such as “Medschecks” and pharmaceutical opinions
  • Patient counselling and follow-up
  • Manage staff and workflow efficiently
  • Provide on-going training for all new staff members and colleagues
  • OTC (over the counter) recommendation and counselling

You'll be great at this role if you've got the following qualities in spades:

  • Independence – you know what needs to be done and don't need someone always looking over your shoulder.
  • Ability to Problem Solve – you are creative, able to adapt, handle issues and adjust a plan on the fly.
  • Organized & Efficient – you use your time and energy effectively and efficiently to hit deadlines. You can juggle multiple tasks at once and are prepared to take on something new with only a moment's notice.
  • Strong Communication – you are an empathetic listener, are professional and articulate with patients and team members.
  • Patient Centricity – the needs of your patients are the highest priority, and you always seek to serve them in a way that best suits their individual lifestyle and medical requirements.

Working with Us

This is a part-time contract (3+ months) position. This store is just one of many affiliate stores in the area, which means that you may have plenty of opportunity to pick up more hours and move and grow into a full-time permanent role as you succeed in the position. Your days of work will include Wednesdays plus another weekday, and alternating weekend shifts. Between our appreciative, multi-generational client base, and the great group of staff we've collected over the years, this is a fun and friendly place to work.

Qualifications

  • Member of and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists/licensed to practice pharmacy in any province across Canada
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
  • Effective oral and verbal communication, with co-staff, pharmacists, and the public
  • Strong knowledge of product preparation, compounding, packaging, and labeling as well as quality assurance standards
  • Flexibility and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (especially Excel for inventory, scheduling etc.)
  • Injection certification completed or willingness to complete
  • Strong ability to perform optimally in a team setting

Assets

  • Knowledge of Pharmaclik and Kroll for prescription processing
  • Opioid Dependence Treatment training
