We are currently looking for a Controller to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/ASPE
  • Support management with timely and accurate internal reporting and variance analysis

Compliance & Regulatory Filings

  • Ensure adherence to Canadian GAAP/ASPE accounting standards
  • Manage all provincial and federal financial reporting requirements, including corporate and tax filings

ERP & Systems Implementation

  • Collaborate with the VP of Finance to implement and optimize a new ERP system
  • Ensure integration and accuracy across accounting modules and operational systems

Internal Controls & Accounting Policies

  • Develop, document, and enforce internal control procedures and accounting policies
  • Identify areas of risk and implement mitigative measures

General Ledger Oversight

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure accurate and timely general ledger entries
  • Oversee reconciliations and manage month-end and year-end close processes

Transactional Accounting Oversight

  • Lead accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing functions
  • Ensure timely vendor payments, accurate customer invoicing, and effective cash application

Audit Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Prepare audit schedules, manage deliverables, and address audit queries

Taxation

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate and indirect taxes
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with applicable tax regulations in relevant jurisdictions

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation or equivalent required
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with prior controllership or audit background
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/ASPE
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus)
  • Proven ability to build and improve internal processes and controls
  • Experience in Agriculture/AgTech is a plus but not required.

Working Conditions & Location

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
  • Kitchener ON preferred, remote candidates may be considered if they can accommodate frequent travel to Kitchener/Canada and maintain strong alignment with our core team.
