SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR – ICI PROJECTS - GTA KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for ICI building projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor projects
    Complete quantity take-offs, coordinate sub-trade selection and pricing of various scope items using first principles on a divisional basis.
    Updating and maintaining both our contacts database and our construction cost database
  • Respond to client inquiries for pricing project work
  • Request, evaluate and recommend subtrade quotations and ensure accuracy and conformance to project plans and specifications
  • Identify long lead material orders to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner
  • Review and finalize bids before submission to clients, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness
  • Communicate effectively with Owners and Architects and in a professional manner to develop your relationships and ensure repeat business
  • Plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager as required
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver accurate and comprehensive estimates that align with project objectives.
  • Process contract drawings and specifications and ensure that construction scope is built in accordance with the latest set of documents
  • Identify scope changes, if any, between “issued for construction” drawings and “tender” package drawings
  • Process contemplated changes received from the Architect by soliciting Subcontractor pricing and ensuring scope is complete and pricing reasonable prior to submission to Architect
  • Prepare and submit accurate progress billings/invoices on a timely basis and ensure it reflects all work completed on site to date
  • Monitor labour and material costs to ensure the budget is not compromised and escalate any discrepancies
  • Read, interpret, analyze and forecast projects costs to ensure a positive cash flow
  • Coordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors to effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labour, schedule and payment disputes
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of trade unions, their agreements and stipulations as well as market trends, material pricing, labor rates, and industry regulations to inform accurate estimates.
  • Ensure all required documents are prepared, shared and logged with a high level of accuracy and within required timeframes
  • Provide document turnover at completion of project - project close-out documentation, including as-built drawings, manuals, warranties, building permits etc…
  • Provide other duties as requested and required
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Minimum 7 -10 years related estimating experience in ICI Construction in Canada
  • Experienced estimating on small to very large construction projects (typical projects can from $100k -$50 mill)
  • Strong estimating experience across a diverse range of projects including: Commercial, Institutional, Multi- Residential, Retail and Industrial Facilities across the GTA
  • Experienced estimating on both New Construction and Renovation projects
  • Experience with mid-rise, high rise , multi-res and warehouse construction bids/ estimates is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to successfully bid projects up to $50M.
  • Understanding of various CCDC and CCA contract formats and estimate classifications.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Project, Bluebeam Revu, Sage Estimating, Bid Matrix, Procore, and closing and takeoff software an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with understanding of business etiquette.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail as well as ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and macros
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with CMiC is an asset
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • University or College Degree in Engineering/Construction or Architectural curriculum or equivalent experience
  • Gold Seal Certification in Estimating an asset
  • Valid G Driver's license
