THE ROLE

As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions across the organization. Youll play a critical role in driving financial accuracy, developing internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making. Working closely with the VP Finance and leadership team, you will help implement best practices across the accounting function, oversee cost management initiatives, and contribute to improved operational efficiency through insightful analysis and standardized reporting. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee accounting processes, procedures, and controls including AP, AR, GL, and job costing
  • Streamline and automate internal processes while maintaining strong controls for reporting accuracy
  • Lead, train, and support the finance team to uphold the integrity of the reporting cycle
  • Work with the VP Finance and team to implement best practices and standardized accounting policies
  • Conduct and review monthly/quarterly financial reporting and forecasting, including variance and performance analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating plan and set financial targets each quarter
  • Provide oversight of cost accounting practices, ensuring accurate project profitability and invoice reporting
  • Mentor and coach team members to achieve high levels of performance and accuracy
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and leadership to resolve financial issues and communicate insights
  • Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure task completion, compliance, and accuracy across teams
  • Prepare monthly reports on KPIs, inventory, work-in-process, and variance analysis for leadership review
  • Identify process gaps and reporting improvements that support business operations
  • Stay current with ASPE/IFRS reporting changes and provide impact analysis on standards and required adjustments
  • Maintain financial control systems and compliance with internal policies and legal reporting requirements
  • Work closely with external and internal auditors for mid-year and year-end reviews
  • Safeguard company revenue and cost controls through internal audits and risk assessments
  • Support treasury reporting needs and forecasting initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with progressive leadership responsibilities
  • 35 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • CPA designation is an asset but not mandatory
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting frameworks (ASPE and IFRS)
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams across multiple functions (AP, AR, GL, etc.)
  • High proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing complex financial data
  • Oracle ERP or accounting software experience required
