THE OPPORTUNITY
TCU Place is looking for a permanent, part-time Facilities Technician to join our proficient, core, Technical Services team. Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, this position operates and maintains lighting and audio equipment for the facility. Work includes providing technical advice and suggestions regarding lighting equipment to lessee or production personnel. This position also works in cooperation with other technicians to ensure all phases of the productions or events are synchronized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations stage lighting and audio systems throughout the facility including the auditorium, centennial hall, convention centre, and salon.
- Ensures the maintenance of lighting and audio equipment as well as stage risers.
- Ensures the security of tools and equipment by means of safe and proper storage.
- Recommends the purchase of equipment, materials and parts. Maintains a stock of vital replacement parts for the facility.
- Assists the house electrical in providing electrical requirements to clients when required.
- Assists all temporary staff assigned in the proper use of equipment
- Operates facility lighting console and associated lighting equipment
- Conducts tests to maintain or improve equipment.
- Confers with other permanent technical personnel to ensure coordination of all phases of production.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Graduation from a recognized Electronics Engineering Technology program
- Four years related experience in the operation of live theatre and concert lighting
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours Of Work:
- Evening and weekend work is involved
- Overtime may be required
- Hours of work will surround the requirements based on booked events and productions in the facility. Hours may vary.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
- Acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) upon offer of employment.
Salary
$35.6431per hour, IATSE 2025 Rates
