We are seeking an individual or couple to provide a Supportive Home, responsible for supporting our daughter with an intellectual disability, who is 27 years old to pursue a home of her own in a supportive living environment. The Supportive Home candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our daughter is supported at home with daily living tasks and actively involved in a variety of community-oriented activities of her choice in the evenings / on weekends.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Develop a relationship with our daughter and support her to create a home environment

· Collaborate with our daughter around household purchases and chores and daily living tasks (i.e., meal preparation, cooking, grocery shopping, keeping her space clean… etc.)

· Prompting our daughter with personal hygiene tasks

· Provide support to our daughter in identifying, attending (transportation) and participating safely in community activities to connect with others based on shared interests (our daughter is involved with volunteering in the community, sports and recreation – like skiing and swimming)

· When necessary, be the conduit between the community group and our daughter to facilitate meaningful participation

The ideal candidate will:

· Have a steadfast belief and commitment to inclusion, the right for all people to belong, participate and contribute to community

· The ability to work independently in unstructured environments

· Be responsive and flexible to the complex and changing needs of an independent adult requiring support

· Have the coaching skills – knowledge of and ability to demonstrate and support the development of skills as they relate to managing a home and social life

· Have knowledge of community resources available and ability to support the person's participation and inclusion within their community

· Have a valid Class 5 driver's license; access to a reliable vehicle, applicable insurance and a driver's abstract

· Be First Aid and CPR certified

· Have a current Police Check complete with a vulnerable sector check
