The Opportunity:

Logic Executive Search & Workplace Solutions is proud to partner with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the recruitment of a Planner II located in Lakeshore, Ontario. This is a contract position for up to 3 years, with a core focus on supporting the exciting growth and development of the Lakeshore region.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Community Planning, the Planner II performs professional planning work of moderate complexity, requiring specialized knowledge in areas such as land use planning, policy development, and environmental planning. This role supports the implementation and delivery of planning services, with a primary focus on processing development applications and coordinating community improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

· Reviewing and processing site plan applications, part lot control applications, deeming by-laws, and amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law.

· Assisting with minor variance and consent applications.

· Reviewing development proposals for compliance with municipal policies and regulations.

· Preparing and presenting reports to Council and Committees.

· Administering Community Improvement Plan (CIP) financial incentive programs.

· Maintaining inventories for development applications and subdivision agreements.

· Conducting research and data collection to support planning studies and policy development.

· Providing planning advice and information to the public, stakeholders, and agencies.

· Participating in public consultation processes and interdepartmental meetings.

· Maintaining planning files and documents using planning software and GIS tools.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary degree in Planning or other related fields.
  • Full membership or eligible for full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners.
  • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) Designation would be considered a strong asset.
  • 5+ years of experience related to professional planning in a municipal setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ontario Provincial policies, legislations, and regulations regarding planning, zoning by-laws, urban design, economic development, environmental hazards, land use, and more.
  • Excellent report writing capabilities with previous experience creating and presenting reports to Council members.
  • Previous experience with computer hardware and software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, GIS, Adobe, Cloudpermit, Web-Based Mapping programs, Laser Fiche, and more.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, analyzing statistical information, and making recommendations regarding development planning.
  • Exceptional time management, leadership, public relations, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Must maintain a clear police clearance.
