Assurance Manager – Public Accounting

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 (commensurate with experience)

Our client, a well-established and growth-oriented public accounting firm in the Mississauga area, is currently seeking a Manager to join their Assurance & Audit team. What You'll Do:
As an Assurance Manager, your responsibilities will be divided between client-facing work and departmental leadership. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality audit and assurance services, while also contributing to the firm's continued success by developing team members and supporting operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Work – Billable Engagements:
Lead audit and review engagements from planning through completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to professional standards
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients across various industries (including owner-managed businesses)
Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with ASPE
Review and finalize working paper files, audit reports, and related documentation
Manage budgets, timelines, and billing for assigned engagements
Identify and communicate audit issues and value-added recommendations to clients
Department Leadership & Internal Operations:
Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants on technical and soft skills
Support the professional development of team members through performance reviews and coaching
Contribute to workflow optimization and continuous improvement within the assurance team
Participate in the firm's quality control initiatives and uphold best practices
Collaborate with partners and other department leaders to support firm-wide objectives
Qualifications:
CPA designation in good standing is required
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management capacity
Strong knowledge and hands-on application of ASPE and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS)
Experience leading audit and review engagements for privately held and owner-managed businesses
Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office Suite
Proven ability to lead client relationships and mentor junior staff
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
